Claire Lomas : A Living Legend

When you’ll see Claire Thomas riding a superbike you wont believe on your eyes.

In 2007, while riding a horse she met with an accident, which resulted in broken ribs puncturing her lungs and multiple fractures on her neck; and a spinal cord injury which left her paralysed. Claire Lomas a 38 yrs old mother of two from Leicestershire became a fund raiser for the charity Spinal Research.

In an interview with BBC She quoted  “I did have dark thoughts because my life had been turned upside down and there was so much I would never do again.”

“The whole thing left me feeling totally dazed.

“But I eventually realised that I had to stop thinking about what I couldn’t do, and start focussing on what I could.

“I took one day at a time and made the most of every opportunity. It was slow at first but life eventually became interesting again.”

During the last 11 years, Lomas has written a book, got married, had two children, completed the London marathon, hand-cycled from Nottingham to London, and been awarded an MBE.

And now she is determined to do the Isle of Man TT Circuit. She started her motorcycling training with the bike experience charity at 2015 and last July she got her ACU license and now preparing to complete Manx Challenge around 60km track on a customized motorcycle.

“The only part of the bike I can feel is the handlebars.” she says with a grinning face.”I don’t have time for the dark thoughts anymore.

“Life is very different and I have no reason to have down days, I just get on with it.” Claire Lomas will attempt her challenge during the Manx Grand Prix in August.

Here is an example that proves an accident can break our bones, our nerves but not our will.
